Top 10 places to visit in Jamaica

Dolphin Cove

Dolphin Cove is a marine park that allows visitors to swim with dolphins and other marine life in their natural environment. Have the experience of a lifetime as you get up close and personal with amazing animals. Included are mini-boat rides, glass-bottom kayaking, snorkeling with stingrays, watching Shark Shows, and access to the beach.

Dunn’s River Falls and Park

Dunn’s River Falls is one of Jamaica’s national treasures. Globally, it is as well-known as Reggae and equally stimulating. There are few places where the Arawak name “Xayamaca” – the land of rivers and springs – is more apt. The Spaniards called the area “Las Chorreras” – the waterfalls or springs – and it is truly one of the most beautiful spots on the island. A stone’s throw from Ocho Rios, one of Jamaica’s fastest-growing resort centers, Dunn’s River Falls is unique.

Luminous Lagoon (Glistening Waters)

Each day at sunset, the tours of the Luminous Lagoon at Glistening Waters in Falmouth begin. The boat tour from Glistening waters takes you to an area where Mother Nature has created a beautiful showpiece that is only visible after dusk. Visitors can swim in the light shown in the waters created by microscopic organisms that emit bio-luminescent light. The area is fairly shallow and the visit to the Luminous Lagoon is truly an amazing experience that is well worth the journey.

Blue Hole

Blue Hole is one of those breathtaking water attractions in Jamaica that’s a favorite for both locals and visitors to the island. It’s a crowd-pleaser that has not been privatized, meaning it’s free to access and you’ll only be paying for your guide which you will discover is well worth the few bucks. It’s close enough to Ocho Rios and awe-inspiring enough for you to make this trip a priority when visiting Jamaica.

Rio Grande

The Rio Grande Rafting Tour is available 7 days a week. Each raft carries 2 adults and 1 small child. The tour begins at “Rafters Rest” and offers a 2 – 3 hour excursion down one of Jamaica’s longest rivers. For this tour, visitors should dress comfortably and be sure to pack swimwear, a towel, and sunscreen. Waterproof phone covers would also come in handy.

Frenchman’s Cove

Frenchman’s Cove has over 40 acres of remote white sand and crystal water, you can enjoy more on your day at the beach. The scenery from their pavilion is the perfect backdrop for weddings, yoga retreats, and beach trips. There’s a wide selection of jerk chicken, steamed fish, burgers, fries, and rice at a (supposedly) reasonable price. However, it’s a private beach so please account for things like admissions and chair rentals when you plan your trip there.

The Martha Brae River

Rafting on the Martha Brae, the island’s #1 rafting attraction is located approximately three miles inland from the town of Falmouth, the birthplace of one of Jamaica’s former Prime ministers, Hugh Shearer. The attraction is a mere twenty miles from Montego Bay and forty miles from Ocho Rios. The embarkation area, “Rafter’s Village”, encompasses six acres of beautifully manicured lawns situated on a natural horseshoe island. It offers a fully appointed recreational facility which includes picnic grounds, a full-service bar, two souvenir shops, a swimming pool, and modern restrooms. Before embarking on the tour, guests can also take a stroll through “Miss Martha’s Herb Garden”, a presentation of Jamaica’s herbs famous for their medicinal and healing properties.

Yaaman Adventure Park

Take a tour of an 18th-century estate at Prospect, in Ocho Rios, the home of Yaaman Adventure Park. Start your adventure with an open-aired carriage ride and learn about the agricultural resources on the plantation. Take a cooking class with our resident chef. Ready for more? Then turn up the excitement on the mud buggy ride! and hitch a ride on a Camel and explore Yaaman Park.

Green Grotto Caves

Climb 65 steps to 50 feet underground and into the “Belly of the Grotto.” Here, you’ll find the most serene river running through the caves. It’s as quiet as a mouse. In fact, if you go deep enough, you’ll meet the sea and can swim out to nearby Puerto Seco Beach.

Ys Falls

The beautiful seven-tiered YS Falls is one of Jamaica’s most scenic attractions. Located on Jamaica’s South Coast, the waterfalls are surrounded by beautiful gardens. The waterfall feeds several natural pools which are great options for swimming. Experienced guides and lifeguards are on hand to assist visitors.
